Steel is the world's most important engineering and construction material. It is used in every aspect of our lives; in cars and construction products, refrigerators and washing machines, cargo ships and surgical scalpels.

Stainless steel is used in the kitchen accessories, cutlery and cookware. Less ductile grades of steel are used to make knife blades with sharp edges. More ductile grades of steel are used for items that have to be molded into shape such as cookers, grills, sinks and saucepans.

carbon steel also called mild steel, it's commonly used structurally in buildings and bridges, axles, gears, shafts, rails, pipelines and couplings, cars, fridges and washing machines. High carbon steel has a much better tensile strength, used to make cutting tools, blades, punches, dies, springs and high-strength wire.

galvanized steel is used for bus stop benches, balconies, verandahs, staircases, walkways, and ladders. The lighting columns that provide nighttime lighting for roadways are made with galvanized steel, as are the pylons that support high-voltage power distribution to factories, schools, and hospitals.

Aluminum alloys in many industries, including chemical vessels, the aircraft and aerospace industries as well as ships and vehicles, electrical power etc., are increasingly extensive because of their light weight, their high strength and resistance to corrosion.

Within the construction industry, alloy steels are used to create a wide array of products, including girders, bars, pipes, plates, sheets, rods, beams and much more. Large-scale infrastructure projects such as bridges, motorway barriers, electrical pylons and railways are all primarily built from types of steel.
